Located in the south-eastern corner of the coveted Gedeo-Zone, the narrow area of Yirgacheffe is famous for it's savvy farmers. This area is known for producing some of the most beautifully perfumed natural coffees in the world.
Ripe cherries are carefully hand sorted, dried on raised beds, and turned regularly to avoid over-fermentation or mold. In 2005 the Worka Cooperative joined the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union, an organization established to support a sustainable coffee supply for cooperatives in the region.
